SAFEGUARDING STRASBOURG’S HERITAGE
The Hôtel Les Haras is located in the grounds of the former National Stud, built in the middle of the 18th century. This exceptional site is made up of several majestic buildings surrounding a magnificent inner courtyard, some of which are listed as Historic Monuments.
The hotel has been refurbished in such a way as to preserve the history of the site, while at the same time breathing new life into this building of yesteryear thanks to its elegant design. The task was entrusted to the internationally renowned design duo Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku.
Ressource management
Aware of the importance of saving energy, the hotel has installed recent, high-performance heat pumps and centralised technical management. The rooms and communal areas are lit using LED bulbs. We have set up a table to monitor our consumption and all the rooms are fitted with energy-saving boxes.
Fully aware of today’s water-saving challenges, Hôtel Les Haras has installed water-saving devices on its showers and taps. Our toilets are also equipped with dual volumetric flushes to reduce our water consumption.
In a move to respect the environment, the bedding used by the hotel is made from natural fibres and we have opted for eco-designed pillows from the DODO brand. The hotel has also introduced Vapodil steam cleaning systems. We use natural products such as white vinegar and Marseille soap as much as possible. We also use eco-labelled cleaning products, to ensure that our cleaning is healthy and sustainable for the environment.
A GOURMET AND LOCAL PLATE
As part of our environmentally-friendly sustainable purchasing policy, all our local producers are less than 70 km from the hotel.
For breakfast, we serve fruit from the Adam farm in Wahlenheim and dairy products from the Climont farm in Saales. The artisans at Confitures et Terroirs d’Alsace supply us with jams made from their traditional recipes.
We also offer local charcuterie in partnership with Charcuterie artisanale Alsacienne Schwab based in Lichtenberg. Our coffee is roasted by the Alsatian company Reck, which specialises in top-quality coffees, and is served with our homemade cakes!
For our seminars, we have placed our trust in the AVS catering company, which is committed to promoting the local economy and small-scale producers in a sustainable way, and has been awarded the “entreprise adaptée et solidaire” label.
Lastly, Hôtel Les Haras pays particular attention to the breakfast buffet, taking care to reduce waste.
CARE THAT RESPECTS THE ENVIRONMENT
The Hôtel Les Haras is committed to offering pleasant, environmentally-friendly relaxation. In collaboration with the French cosmétique Codage, we use products made in France from natural ingredients, adopting an eco-design approach to formulas and packaging.
Because we care about your well-being and the environment, Hôtel Les Haras carefully regulates the temperature of its pool, sauna and hammam to minimise our carbon footprint. The hotel has also installed a heat recovery system linked to the swimming pool’s air treatment unit.
GREEN AND LOCAL TOURISM
As green transport is a key issue for the city of Strasbourg, Hôtel Les Haras has installed three charging points for electric cars to encourage their use and as part of an environmentally-friendly approach to travel. We also encourage our guests and staff to use the Strasbourg transport network and to cycle.
In partnership with local guides, Hôtel Les Haras offers tours of the city of Strasbourg and supports partners in the region. We inform our guests about the culture, richness and diversity of the local heritage while conveying the generosity and hospitable values of Alsatian culture.
